You saw the dust of the Harmattan in January {Here’s the story, if you need reminded.}…now, it’s time for a glimpse into Rainy Season!

:: Exhibit A – the Swamp Yard front yard!

:: Exhibit B – muddy boots {also found this time of year? Muddy toes, dried-on dirt clods on the front porch from The Farmer, and small, dirty foot-prints on the kitchen floor from, well, you-know-who!}

:: Exhibit C – All-natural rain-water showers!

:: Exhibit D – Indoor laundry and the constant presence of damp clothes, trying to dry.

Stuck vehicles are also the norm around here. Just last week there was a dump truck, two tractors and a pay-loader all stuck just down the road from us. If only I had a picture of THAT! ;)

Rainy season also multiplies the mosquito population, and brings a general feeling of dampness accompanied by a musty smell. Mildew forms on the insides of my kitchen cabinets and on clothing that sits in closets suitcases too long without wear.

On the up side…we’ve got cooler weather, green grass and {provided they were started before the heavy rains fell} growing plants. It’s also generally accepted that rain can cancel the plans of the day. Sort of like snow in PA. If it’s a rainy morning, no one is in a hurry to be out and about, which means lingering over a cup of coffee is just fine! If the rain is significant enough to postpone farm work for the morning, we may even move on to Cup ‘O Joe No. 2!

    Hey girl! You’re missed here at Kitchen Kettle. Wish I was there. I’m totally in the mood for leaving town and Ghana sounds good. I hope all is going well with you and all of your family.

    Much love,
